Thomas Ospital, Amy Pfrimmer, and Joseph Meyer in Recital

Mr. Ospital (organ), Ms. Pfrimmer (soprano), and Mr. Meyer (violin) will present a recital celebrating Louis Vierne’s Angelus. Vierne’s exquisite work for soprano and organ, employing the poetry of Jehan Le Pauvre Moyne, draws inspiration from the devotional prayers received each day at morning, noon, and evening. In addition, works by Jehan Alain, Joseph Ermend Bonnal,Maurice Duruflé, Gabriel Fauré, César Franck, and Francis Poulenc will be presented.

BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION ON PERFORMERS:

THOMAS OSPITAL, currently the young-artist-in-residence at the St. Louis Cathedral in New Orleans, serves as the titular organist of Saint Vincent in Cibure, France, and cotitular organist of Notre Dame des Vertus in Aubervilliers, France. Born in 1990, he graduated with honors from the Conservatoire Maurice Ravel in Bayonne, France, in2008. After graduation, in September 2008 Ospital entered the Paris Conservatory as a student of Olivier Latry, titular organist of Notre Dame Cathedral, and Michel Bouvard, titular organist of the Basilica of St. Sernin in Toulouse and of the Royal Chapel of Versailles. Since 2010 he has been a student of improvisation with Philippe Lefebvre and Thierry Escaict. He won prizes in harmony in 2010 and in counterpoint in 2011. Hel maintains an active concert career not only in France, but also in Germany, Greece, Holland, and Spain. In 2009 he won first prize at the International Organ Competition in Zaragoza, Spain. Ospital was also charged with overseeing the design and construction of a new Dutch-baroque-style organ in 2008 for the sixteenth-century church of Saint Vincent in Cibure.

AMY PFRIMMER is a dedicated teacher and energetic performer known for her wide variety of repertoire. On the faculty of the Music Department at Tulane University, she has appeared with the London Symphony Orchestra, Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra, Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, Staatsphilharmonie Rheinland-Pfalz, and the Baltimore Choral Arts Society. Career highlights include her association with jazz pianist/composer Dave Brubeck in his Christmas cantata La Fiesta de la Posada. She appeared with the Dave Brubeck Quartet and Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra in Brubeck’s classical jazz mass To Hope! Opera and operetta credits include performances with L’Opéra de Montréal, New Orleans Opera, and the Mozart Festival Opera/Teatro Lirico d’Europa. Pfrimmer has received a fellowship from Louisiana Division of the Arts, study grants from the etropolitan Opera’s Education Fund, and the Florida Grand Opera’s Evelyn P. Gilbert Artist of the Year award. She received her Master of Music degree from Loyola University of New Orleans, where she studied with Professor Philip Frohnmayer. Pfrimmer obtained her Bachelor of Music degree from Louisiana State University, where her teachers included Martina Arroyo, Dr. Sandra Kungle and Patricia O’Neill

JOSEPH MEYER has garnered critical acclaim throughout the country as an active soloist, chamber musician, and orchestral leader. He currently holds positions as concertmaster of the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra and associate concertmaster of the Colorado Music Festival. His formers positions include associate concertmaster of the New World Symphony and Louisville Orchestra, and member of the San Francisco Symphony and Minnesota contemporary Ensemble. The group’s debut recording, on the Innova label, was called “a tour de force” by the Minneapolis Star Tribune. As a chamber musician has been a guest performer with members of the Arditti and Degas quartets, singer Frederica con Stade, violinist Donald Weilerstein, guitarist Paul Galbraith, the Sierra Chamber Society, and the Colorado Musical Festival chamber music series, as well as the Left Coast, Providence, and St. Peter’s chamber music series.

Meyer graduated in 2000 from the San Francisco Conservatory with a master’s degree in chamber music, studying with Camilla Wicks and Mark Sokol. He is a teacher at the New Orleans Center for the Creative Arts and an active chamber music musician in New Orleans.
